We Cover All Your Security Needs

FROM THE DESK OF
RANDY CARVER…

Carver Security Systems, Inc. is very concerned about a trend in the communication industry. It is becoming more and more common for our residential and commercial customers to switch from traditional hard wired telephone lines to the newer and supposedly more cost effective cable technology for bundling telephone, internet and television services. We feel it is important to educate you about issues that may arise with your security or fire alarm system’s ability to communicate to the monitoring center during an emergency should you choose to bundle your telephone service with your local cable company.

1. Per the National Fire Alarm Code, cable modems are not an acceptable means of communication for fire alarm signals for commercial systems. Simply, this is a major code violation.

2. Should A/C power be lost in the home/building or simply at the outlet the cable modem utilizes, the security/fire system may not be able to transmit alarm signals to the monitoring center.

3. The required line seizure for signal transmission may or may not be accomplished with cable technology.

Should you be considering changing your current telephone communication, please contact us to discuss further.
